William R. Marsden

MARSDEN William Roland Age 88 of Monessen Pennsylvania died on Saturday May 9 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Born June 22, 1926, son of the late C. Walter and Willa Marsden formerly of Belle Vernon. He is survived by his widow Mary (Turkovich) Marsden of Monessen, his son Kevin and daughter-in-law Jo-Ann (Rafetto) Marsden of Pittsburgh, and younger sister Bonnie Adams, also of Pittsburgh. Brother' s and sister's in law Anthony and Peggy Turkovich, Michael and Brenda Turkovich, Darlene and Denny Hackinson, Frances Turkovich, Sherri and Bernie Fertall, Susan Turkovich, Donald and Michelle Turkovich, and Linda Dolan Turkovich. Aunt Rita Cocca and his two dogs Steeler and Bo He was preceded in death by Kevin’s mother Mildred (Check) Marsden and by his siblings, older sister Doris-Jean Einehouse, older brother C. Everett Marsden, and younger brother Lloyd Marsden. A brother in law Butchie Turkovich. Bill was a veteran of the US Army AirCorps and studied at James Madison College and Purdue University before embarking on a long career with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, where he held several supervisory positions at the former Monessen Works, he retired to devote more time to family responsibilities. He became an active member of the local community, serving on the CDC redevelopment board. He was a member of the Monessen Chapter of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2399 and held a number of offices in the BPOE Order of Elks lodge 455 where he served actively in that role at the Monongahela Lodge until his death. The Knights of Columbus Council 954. Friends will be received in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen Pa. on Monday from 6 until 8 pm and on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm. A Blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am in the Funeral Home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Crookston Officiating www.billicksfuneralhome.com The family requests that in lieu of flowers donation be made in Bill’s name to Elks National Foundation , 2750 North Lakeview Ave. Chicago, IL 60614-1889 773-755-4728. Knights of Columbus will hold services on Tuesday at 6:30 pm and the Elks Lodge 455 will conduct services at 7 pm. Both in the Funeral Home.
