Peter Paul Chomko

March 27, 1921 — January 7, 2012

Peter was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1921. He was the son of the late Jacob and Tillie Chomko of Monessen. He was a graduate of Monessen High School and a continuing member of American Legion Post 28 and St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Monessen. Peter was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a plank member of the USS Ira Jeffery in the North Atlantic. He Retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co. in 1983 after 42 years as an electrician/armature winder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth, two brothers Nicholas and Steve, and two sisters Olga Chomko and Mary Zimmerman. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence of Peru, Indiana and Ronald and his wife Barbara of Henderson, Nevada; brother, John of Monessen; sisters Ann Brindak and Helen Joyce of Okemos Michigan; two grandson- Patrick of Logansport Indiana and Bryan Peter of Henderson, Nevada; two granddaughters, Stacey Schalk of Thorton Colorado, and Lisa Murphy of Longmont Colorado; one sister in-law, Martha of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; three great grandchildren, Taylor Schalk and Brooke Schalk of Thorton, Colorado and Eli Paul Chomko of Logansport, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service will be scheduled for the late spring early summer in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd. & Marion Ave Monessen PA 15062 (724) 684-3700, www.billicksfuneralhome.com with a celebration of life following the graveside ceremony.
