Patricia (Swade) Kovach

KOVACH – Patricia S., 90, passed Thursday, April 30, 2020. The daughter of the late George C. and Pauline (Creevey) Swade, she was born in Monessen on May 13, 1929. She is the wife of the late Edward F. Kovach, who preceded her in death in June 1988. She was a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church, and the Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, both in Monessen. Pat unselfishly volunteered throughout her life. She dedicated herself to serving on the Monongahela Valley Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary for over 20 years. She was a member of various associations, including the Mon Valley Slovak Society, the F.C.S.L.A. Branch 88 of Monessen, and the Ladies’ Catholic Benevolent Association (L.C.B.A.). She also served as a Judge of Elections for the 2nd Ward for many years and worked as an Assistant at Westmoreland County Community College’s Mon Valley Campus. Pat always looked forward to her days at the Monessen Elementary Center, where she volunteered in the SMILES Program. In addition to her husband Eddie, Pat was preceded in death by her sister Rosemary Swade Titler and brother John “Jack” (Bear) Swade. She is survived by her son Ronald and daughter-in-law Beth Ann Kovach of Charleroi, daughter Paula and son-in-law Michael Brandt of Rostraver Township, as well as “her favorite” grandchildren Ana and Maxine Brandt, Kelly, Veronica and Patrick Kovach. Surviving also are her sister Kathleen and brother-in-law Nicholas Mappas of Monessen, her brother George and sister-in-law Judy Swade of Torrance, CA, as well as nieces and nephews scattered throughout the US. “Gram”, “Aunt Pat” and “Auntie” will be sadly missed by all.
