Mary (Hreno) Pavlik

God needed a special flower for his garden in heaven, so He called Mary. Mary Hreno Pavlik 83 of Monessen died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 4 2016 in her home. She passed away in the arms of her son. Three months ago, Mary was diagnosed with an uncommon type of cancer that ravished her body but she fought a brave battle till the end. If God ever had an angel on earth, Mary certainly was one. Her words of wisdom and her loving ways had a way of touching everyone she came in contact with. Mary was an excellent cook and was noted for her home made pirohi's and ravioli's that she and her husband made for many years. She worked as a cashier at the Thorofare Market in Monessen. Mary was proud of her Slovak heritage and strong in her faith. She was a member of St. John the Divine orthodox Church of Monessen. Born in Monessen on Nov. 1, 1932 Mary was the daughter of the Late John and Mary Hudi Hreno. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, brothers, Andy in infancy, John and Michael and his wife Helen Hreno, a sister Anne and her husband John Haschets all of Monessen, two nephews Michael and Robert Hreno. She is survived by her son Andrew John and his wife Lisa of Monessen. Sisters Susan Urko and husband Richard of Monongahela, Helen Veschio and husband Val Gene of Monessen, sister in law Dorothea Urko of Hunker. Aunt Beka as she was known to her nieces and nephews is also survived by Nephews George Hreno and his wife Laura of Florida, Val Gene Veschio and his wife Lorrie of Monessen, Richard and David Urko of Monongahela, Mike Pavlik of Hunker and John Vetosky of Donora and a niece Cindy Pawelec and her husband Michael of Monessen in addition to many great nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com prayers will be held on Monday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by 10 am Funeral Services in St. John the Divine Orthodox Church with V. Rev Fr Gregory Peterson officiating interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Parastas services will be held on Sunday at 7 pm in the funeral Home
