Kathleen Hubans, 90, went home to our Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Monongahela Valley Hospital, Monongahela, Pennsylvania. Kathleen was born January 31, 1927 in Monessen, PA, the daughter of Sylvester (Fay) and Bertha Brand Mullen. She was united in marriage to John Hubans who preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Hubans was a member of St. Leonard’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was also a proud member of the Greater Monessen Historical Society and The Army Historical Foundation, in addition to many other charities she proudly contributed to with a dedicated heart. She is survived by her children; William (Bill) Hubans, Huron, OH, and Brian Hubans and wife Karen Hubans, Toledo, OH; sister Eileen Barker, Monessen, PA, daughter-in-law Kathleen Hubans, Vero Beach, FL; 7 loving grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several (including great) nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Thomas Hubans, brother Bud Mullen and sisters Ruth Turtzer, Mildred Mullen, Mary Mullen. A consummate mother and homemaker, Kathleen was an excellent cook and enjoyed listening to new music, singing and gardening. She remained actively engaged in politics, historical preservation and the arts. Over the years she collected a large library of recipes and loved to experiment in the kitchen. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching football and baseball. Kathleen had an unwavering faith in God. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous fundraising events and volunteer committees. She had a knack for quoting nostalgic family expressions and memorable stories with a great sense of humor and playful spirit. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave www.billickdfuneralhome.com. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Friday, December 29, 2017 with a 9:30 am blessing service in the funeral home followed by a 10 am funeral mass in the Chapel of the Epiphany of Our Lord, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, PA, 15062.
