John "Zeke" Zilka 83 of Monessen on Friday June 15 in Haven Crest Nursing Center. Born in Monessen on February 9 1935 he was the son of the late George and Julia Futey Zilka. He retired from the US Postal Service Monessen Office. He served his country in the US Army. Zeke was an outstanding bowler in the Mon Valley area, he was involved with youth baseball Bronco League, He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church and served as an employee after his retirement from the Post Office. Prior to the church merger he was a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church where he served on Parish Council. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by four brothers George, Andrew, Cyril and infant John, five sisters Veronica Zilka, Julia Zilka, Ann Druguet, Mary Ruday, and Helen Konick. He is survived by his wife Pauline Swade Zilka, one son and daughter in law David and Karen Zilka of Belle Vernon, and a daughter and son in law Kathy and Mark Vlanich of Raleigh NC, four grandchildren Bridget Zilka, Nicole, Justin and Jacob Vlanich. One brother and sister in law Joseph and Shirley Zilka of Monongahela, two sisters and a brother in law Agnes and Tom Duttine and his twin sister Sr. M Julia Irene Zilka SNC . A sister in law Susanna Swade of Monessen. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 9:30 am until 11:30 am in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 am in the funeral home with Fr. Michael Crookston Officiating burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers the family suggests donations in Zeke's memory be made to the Monessen Public Library.
