John Billak Jr. 94, a longtime resident of Fallowfield Twp, formerly of Monessen, peacefully passed away at Hallsworth House Monessen on January 5 2018. He was born July 5, 1923 to his late parents John and Mary Jurenek Billak. He is survived by his loving daughter Karen Ann Billak of Miami Florida and son Thomas John Billak of Naples Florida, along with grandchildren Nicole (Tom) Durkin of Chicago IL, Brandon (Lisa) Billak of Seattle Washington and Brittany (David) Summerlot of Windermere Florida. Along with two great grandchildren Jacob Durkin and Robert Summerlot. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, along with many great, great-great, and great- great- great nieces and nephews . John was married to Eleanor Louise Walsen Billak for 35 years until her demise in 1981, He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Margaret Stofan, Mary Peshok, Ann Barilla, Sofie Yokum, George Billak, Edward Billak and Gerald Billak. He served in the US Army, during World War II, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, primarily in the Philippines' and Australia from 1943-1945. He was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co. until his retirement. He was a member of Mary Mother of the Church Charleroi PA, and the American Legion Post 22 of Charleroi. John enjoyed Horse Racing and playing poker and blackjack, along with many trips to Florida to visit his children. He also enjoyed traveling around the country with his daughter when she was employed as a Vice-President of Facilities Management at a South Florida Bank. For many years he loved hosting parties at his home and his big blue eyes were a beacon to all who knew him. Friends will be received on Thursday January 11 from 6 until 8 pm and on Friday January 12 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc.
