Helen Duronio Murin 88 of Monessen died Saturday, December 7 2013. She was born July 17 1925 in Monessen where she resided all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Marano and Nicolina (Lena) Duronio and the sister of Valerio ( William) Duronio. Helen was the wife of the Late Steve Murin with whom she celebrated 44 years of Marriage at the time of his death. Mrs. Murin taught in the Parochial schools for 30 years, retiring from Transfiguration School in Monongahela in 1988. During her life, she was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary of the Mon Valley Hospital earning her 5000 hour volunteer service award. Her other activities included the Ladies Auxiliary of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church and the former Italian Ladies Mutual Aid Society. Helen was a charter member of the former Hilltop Fireman Ladies Auxiliary. In 1994 she founded the Italian Heritage Society of Monessen and was President through 2007. Survivors include two daughters Patricia (Charles) Stevenson of McMurray and Valerie Kellar of Cranberry Township. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laura (Kurt) Weiss of Allison Park: Grant Stevenson of Canonsburg: Tyler (Stephanie) Stevenson of Grand Rapids, Michigan: and Leland (Michelle) Kellar Cranberry Township. In addition Helen is survived by her great grandchildren Connor and Annaliese Weiss: Maya and Noah Stevenson; Ayden Wood and Dylan Kellar. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com a blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am in the Funeral Home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, interment will follow on Grandview Cemetery. Epiphany Ladies will hold services on Tuesday at 3 pm in the funeral home.
