Delford W. Mencarelli, 84, died peacefully on July 3, 2015 after a tragic battle with Alzheimer's in Las Vegas, NV. Born May 10, 1931 he was the youngest child of Victor and Brunetta (Lazzari) Mencarelli of Pistoia, Italy who migrated to Belle Vernon, PA in the early 1900's. He graduated from (Belle) Vernon High School in 1949 and lived in the valley his entire life until he retired in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas in 2003. He was the loving husband of Lillian Hora Mencarelli, deceased in 1981, and devoted father to his only child Terri Black. One of his greatest joys in life was being blessed with a grandson, Daniel Black in 1994, saying at the time, "The circle is complete". Known to friends and family as Del, he was a kind, respectful, independent, and deeply religious man. Del enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family and joined them on trips to Singapore, Europe, North Carolina beaches and in many other places in the Las Vegas area. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Del worked at Allegheny Power for over 30 years, retiring in 1993 as a control room operator. He loved many different styles of music, especially jazz and big band, and played saxophone and clarinet in area bands into his mid 70's in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas. His love for music was a bond he especially shared with his grandson Daniel. While living in Monessen, Del was a member of St. Cajetan Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church of Las Vegas, NV. Del is survived by a sister Lloyda Kostolansky of Monessen, and was preceded in death by a brother Evo Mencarelli of Belle Vernon and a sister Eva Simone of Fox Chapel. His daughter Terri, her husband Richard, and their son Daniel Black live in Cornelius, NC. Friends will be received for visitation and funeral on Saturday July 11, 2015 from 10am-1pm at Robert A. Billick Funeral Home in Monessen, PA.The funeral services begin at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Monongahela, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Nevada Association to Stop Guardian and Elder Abuse
