Elizabeth "Betty" Roman Kuhns, 94, of Kendall Park, N.J., passed away Nov. 3, 2013, at Merwick Care Center in Plainsboro, N.J. Betty was predeceased by her first husband of 31 years, Ben Paradiuk who passed in 1986; and her husband of 25 years, Charles Kuhns who passed in 2009. She was also predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Roman; brothers, John and Michael; sisters, Sister Paschal and Sister Marlene of the Vincentian Sisters of Charity; and grandson, Philip. Betty is survived by her daughter, Nancy and son-in-law, John Palmiter; sister-in-law, Antoinette Roman of Pennsylvania; nephew, Michal Roman and wife, Donna; grand-nephews, Keith, Kyle and Kurtis Roman of Illinois; niece, Vera Leonard and husband, Greg; grand-nephew, Ben; and grand-niece, Rachel also of Pennsylvania. Betty was born and raised in Monessen. After graduation in 1939, she ventured to New York City for employment where she met her first husband. They then resided for many years in New Jersey where Betty had a life-long career as a bookkeeper at Royal Blue Bus Co., Rutgers University, and Knickerbocker Toy Co. Once retired, they eventually moved to Florida. She later remarried and remained in Sebastian, FLa., until she was widowed and then moved back to New Jersey to reside with her daughter. Betty was a charter member in the Women's Auxiliaries of the Fraternal Order of the Moose in both the Edison, N.J. and Sebastian, Fla., lodges. During her 51 years of membership, she attained the degree of College of Regents. She donated many of her knitted and crocheted items to the Sebastian Moose auxiliary fundraisers, making many heirloom items for both friends and family. Betty enjoyed both a social life and in being a homemaker. She loved life and had many memorable vacations traveling with her family to many destinations in the USA, including Hawaii, and to Mexico. ?Viewing will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME, Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen.
