Anna Mae Bukowski, age 93, passed away on September14, 2024 in Greensburg, PA. Anna Mae was born to John and Mary (Roskovensky) Bukowski, was the youngest of 11 children, and grew up in Brier Hill, Pennsylvania in an area that was a mining settlement. Her father and several brothers worked in the coal mines.
For 43 years, Anna Mae worked as a live-in housekeeper/organizer for two Roman Catholic priests at several parishes. She retired in 1992. During most of those years, Anna Mae lived in Monessen. Her faith in God was woven into her daily life, and she often expressed gratitude to God for His presence and care. “God is so good to me.” She prayed consistently for all people, those known to her and unknown.
In 2014, Anna Mae was awarded The Bishop’s Medal of Honor by the Diocese of Greensburg, Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt, for meritorious service.
Aunt Anna Mae is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Andrew, Steve, John, Joseph, Michael, Pete, George and sisters Mary, Burns, Agnes Smith and Barbara Tomecek.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday September 19th in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen. A Blessing service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am in the funeral home followed by an 11 am Funeral Mass held in the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen with entombment in the Grandview Cemetery mausoleum.
