Alba Mallino

Alba G. Mallino, 88, of Monessen died on Sunday, May 11th, 2014 at her home. She was born in Monessen on November 12th, 1925, the daughter of Andrew Galuppo and Mary J. Galuppo. She met her future husband shortly after the end of WW II, married, and had three children. Once her children were in school, she began working outside the home, first at the Magura Sewing factory of Monessen and later at Brookville Manufacturing of Belle Vernon. When she and her husband retired they enjoyed traveling to places such as Fort Knox, New Orleans, and Montreal, as well as to the homes of their children. She attended and enjoyed Friday morning Bible-study classes at Covenant Christian Church of Belle Vernon PA. Besides her parents, Alba was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Anthony Mallino of Monessen; and two sisters, Martha Dubnansky of North Charleroi, and Linda Bieneck of Monessen. She is survived by three sisters and a brother: Eva Giannini of Charleroi, Hilda Van Kulich, who resides in a nursing home near Greensburg, Ruth Trozzo of Monessen, and David Galuppo of Coal Center; a daughter, Judy Popelas of Charlottesville VA; a son, Mark Mallino of Charlotte NC; and a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Shirley Mallino of Richboro PA; four grandchildren, Rachel Mallino of Charlotte NC, Daniel Popelas of Charlottesville VA, Jesse Mallino of Richboro PA, and Mathew Mallino of Richboro PA; and one great-grandchild, Angelina Mallino of Charlotte, NC. Friends will be recieved on Wednesday May 14 from 11 am until 12:30 pm in the Robert A Billick Funeral Home Inc. www.billicksfuneralhome.com Grand Blvd and Marion Ave. Monessen . Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12:30 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Frank DePolo Officiating interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park
